CDT provides Certified Collector and Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) training in compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Being DOT compliant is important and in some cases, required. CDT’s Collector training meets the mandated regulations set forth by the DOT’s 49 CFR Part 40 for both DOT Collector and BAT. Whether you are looking to become a first-time collector or BAT, or to become a Certified Trainer or Calibration Technician, this training will meet your requirements.

This training is for all managers, supervisors and authorized individuals who need the necessary information for the reasonable suspicion testing process. Training meets the requirements set forth by the Department of Transportation. The training covers all the required topics (as stated in Title 49 Transportation Part § 382.603 Training for supervisors), to include at least sixty (60) minutes of training on alcohol misuse, at least sixty (60) minutes of training on controlled substances use, and skills in determining if reasonable suspicion exists that may require the employee to undergo testing under Part § 382.307. The training also includes discussions of physical, behavioral, speech and performance indicators of probable alcohol misuse and/or the use of a controlled substance.
FMCSA Rules and Regulations Training
Delivery: CDT event locations, client sites
This training is for drivers, supervisors, HR, DERs and alike. Training covers the Federal rules, found in Part 395, Sub-part B. It provides critical regulatory information on several topics: Alcohol and drug testing procedures, Exemptions, Reasons for testing (Pre-employment, Reasonable Suspicion, Random, Return to duty, etc.), Refusal to test, Driver qualification, Driving of commercial motor vehicles, Marijuana, prescription and alcohol use on and off the job, Employee Self Admission, Prohibitions, and more.
Designated Employer Representative(DER) Training

In order to become a qualified DER, an individual must have detailed knowledge of their responsibilities as outlined in 49CFR Part 40, as well as those specific to the mode(s) they are operating within. CDT’s training professionals can provide this important training at your location or theirs.
DER Training includes: Role of the DER in the substance testing process, Program administration, Overview of the testing process, Problems in testing, Relationships between the DER and other, personnel involved in testing (TPAs, MROs, SAPs, BATs, Laboratories and Collectors), Federal rules and regulations covered in 49CFR Part 40, Specific transportation mode regulations, Procedures for handling positive test results and their consequences, Procedures for reporting test results, and Record keeping and retention.
Employee Awareness Training

This course provides information concerning the effects of alcohol misuse and controlled substances abuse on an individual’s health, workplace and personal life. In addition to information on the five most commonly abused drugs – marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates & PCP – and alcohol. This course is similar to that of the Reasonable Suspicion Supervisor course. This course will educate employees what to look out for, how to approach the employee, and when to say something to a supervisor about what is being observed. Employees are usually on the front line and the first to encounter an unusual situation that may lead to a reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test.
Prescription Drugs Training

Over two million Americans are estimated to have a problem with opioids. Many employees consider a medical prescription “safe”. However, even employees who use certain medical prescriptions following a doctor’s advice, can be impacted in an unsafe way, affecting their job performance and safety to the point where the employee becomes unfit for duty. This course provides information concerning the effects of prescription abuse and misuse on an individual’s health, workplace and personal life. In addition to information on the five most commonly abused drugs – marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates & PCP – and alcohol. Company Drug and Alcohol Program Training

Company drug and alcohol programs contain a lot of information, from when to conduct a DOT post-accident drug and alcohol test, consequences of an out of temperature range specimen, processes for random testing, to what substances are being tested for on a drug test. This training provides an overview of the requirements for a drug & alcohol program and provide you with guidance on creating and implementing a comprehensive drug and alcohol program. Information includes: Program administration, Overview of the testing process (specimen and alcohol testing), Problems in testing, Prohibitions and Consequences, Shy bladder situations, Prescription drugs, Federal rules and regulations covered in 49CFR Part 40, Positive test results and their consequences, Return to duty and follow up testing procedures following a positive test result, and more.

Whether you are a first time DOT Collector, or have many years under your belt, this training is for you. This training will satisfy the mandated regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 CFR Part 40.33, and the Urine Specimen Collection Guidelines.
This training includes background information about 49 CFR Part 40, DOT Agency regulations and DOT Urine Specimen Collection Procedures Guidelines. In addition, this training qualifies you to be a Urine Specimen Collector, covering steps for successfully completing the collection, fatal flaws, correctable flaws, problem collections, and collector responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the collection process.
Initial Proficiency Demonstration – Five mock collections demonstrating collection proficiency and error-free mock collections.
Specimen Collector Instructor Training

This course trains the student as a Collector and provides materials & guidance for use in training other collectors. A certificate will be issued to successful participants.
This training will satisfy the mandated regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 CFR Part 40.33, and the Urine Specimen Collection Guidelines. This course is an advanced class over and above DOT’s requirements for DOT Specimen Collector training. This training covers material from the Urine Specimen Collector training in addition to classroom activities that include detailed review of procedures before each mock test (5 in all) and discussions of instructor resources, monitoring student mock tests and available online materials. An instructor manual and materials are provided for use to train collectors in your own company.

This training is designed to educate the beginner to advanced breath alcohol technician. Our instructors have the knowledge and experience to provide high level training for each level of experience. This allows for a great classroom experience, without the pressure.
This course includes 1 day self-study and 1 day of classroom instruction, DOT Model Course – part 40 rules and regulations (online or instructor led), Intoximeters EBT instrument-specific training (classroom), instruction on the Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) and Accuracy Checks, and 7 mock tests in a classroom setting. We make this class is entertaining and fun.

Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)Instructor Training

PLEASE NOTE: This course covers only the Intoximeters Instruments.
This course is an advanced class over and above DOT’s requirements for BAT training. This training is designed to provide the necessary training to allow for training your own staff as a BAT. Certification on more than one instrument can occur (additional charges and training time may apply). This course includes 1 day self-study and 1 day of classroom instruction. It includes the DOT Model Course – part 40 rules and regulations (online or instructor led), Intoximeters EBT instrument-specific training (classroom), instruction on the Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) and Accuracy Checks, and 7 mock tests in a classroom setting, Calibration Technician training (classroom). Instructor resource manual, training aids, and electronic files are provided. Students must successfully complete a written exam for certification.
Breath Alcohol Calibration Technician Training
Delivery: CDT event locations, client sites
PLEASE NOTE: This course covers only the Intoximeters Instruments.
In order to conduct an Intoximeters instrument calibration, you must be trained as a Calibration Technician by the manufacturer or a representative certified by Intoximeters (manufacturer). This class provides what is needed to conduct a calibration on specific instruments. CDT understands each area of the testing process, rules and regulations, company policy as well as every detail of the Intoximeters instruments. Training includes: Calibration Technician training (classroom), Advanced EBT and calibration theory. In addition, testimony issues are discussed. Successful presentations of BAT and calibration technician training modules are required for certification.
Specimen Collector Instructor Training

This training will satisfy the mandated regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 CFR Part 40.33, and the Urine Specimen Collection Guidelines. This course is an advanced class over and above DOT’s requirements for DOT Specimen Collector training.
